Back in December, I had the chance to visit IWC in Schaffhausen to get a sneak look at the oddities they’d be delivering half a month later at the SIHH . As you definitely know at this point, the brand’s spotlight this year is on its pilot’s watches, and specifically another harvest of Spitfire models that utilize new materials and tones to give the list a new look.
The feature of my outing however wasn’t seeing the new watches. It was a discussion I had the chance to have with IWC CEO Chris Granger, who is one of the additional intriguing individuals with regards to this abnormal little industry of our own. Chris is a planner and originator via preparing, and he originally engaged with IWC when the office he worked for was contracted to plan a shop for the brand. From that point, things raised rapidly. He officially joined the company in 2006 and, in the wake of working in a couple of various divisions throughout the long term, he was named CEO in 2017.
We plunked down to talk in the company’s new production on the edges of Schaffhausen, a structure that Chris himself really planned. We obviously discussed the forthcoming assortment of watches and what his experience in design means for how he drives the extravagance watchmaker, yet we additionally get into what really matters to Chris and his standing energy for gathering Hot Wheels vehicles as well. This isn’t your typical CEO talk with, I promise.

Very fittingly, Chris was wearing a model of the new Pilot’s Watch Spitfire Chronograph the day we visited the assembling. He said he’d been wearing various models essentially consistently to test things and to ensure he was content with the different oddities heading into SIHH (which, recall, was quick drawing closer at that point). Despite the fact that it’s not uncommon to see Chris shaking Big Pilots and other bigger watches on his Instagram , this 41mm treated steel chronograph watches completely wonderful on his wrist. The watch is a particularly decent size and IWC truly nailed the subtleties on this execution. Additionally, notwithstanding being a games watch totally, it still truly works with Chris’ three piece suit.
