While the main day of SIHH was generally about seeing the bigger, all the more notable brands, we chose to commit the majority of our second day to investigating the autonomous brands, both large and small. This incorporates everything from brands like Urwerk, MB&F, and Ressence to any semblance of Richard Mille and Greubel Forsey. Following a wild day of running everywhere on the reasonable, I plunked down with Jack, James, and Jon to recap where we’d gone, what we’d seen, and what stood apart to us from the gigantic bunch of watches we’d experienced. There were solid conclusions, changed personalities, and no lack of fervor for some quite exceptional new timekeepers.
While we were scouring the stalls for new deliveries, Joe Thompson was leading a meeting with Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Catherine Renier, who took her post the previous spring (making this her first SIHH in charge). The discussion is too fascinating thus we chose to cut into the center of this scene for a piece to allow you to hear some of it. You will not have any desire to miss this.
Finally, we wrap up the show with a glance at the yearly Cartier introduction. This is consistently one of the can’t-miss occasions of SIHH, offering an opportunity to visit with brand executives and to see the full assortment very close. This year there are new Santos models, a patched up Bagnoire assortment, and in excess of a couple of unimaginable gems pieces, to give some examples of the things we saw. To say this was a feature of the show for our editors would be an incredible understatement.
Don’t fail to remember, we’ll be back tomorrow with our last scene from SIHH 2019, and we’ll be discussing our #1 watches of the show, patterns we see arising, the coolest corners, the greatest shocks, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Have fun and we’ll see you again soon!
