Watch Madness The 2020 HODINKEE Talking Watches Tournament, Day 1

Watch Madness The 2020 Talking Watches Tournament, Day 1

Here at HODINKEE, we endeavor to be numerous things – in one sense, your go-to objective for everything watches, and in another, a light, fun break from the things that really matter. It is in the last sense that I and my partners in the video group –  Grey, Dave, and Shahed –  hopped on a phone call a week ago to conceptualize ways we could make some content to take your brain off things, to empower you to gorge a digit, and to have a great time in the process.

Thus was conceived “Watch Madness: The 2020 HODINKEE Talking Watches Tournament.” As we set up this, what struck me more than anything was the way this little undertaking, what began an impulse in 2013, has developed to unite a particularly shifted and intriguing gathering of individuals under the umbrella of a common energy. What else might actually bring Canadian space explorer Dave Williams and craftsman Phil Toledano to go head to head in the bracket you see beneath? What about 2015 NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala and grant winning writer Gary Shteyngart? I’ll dare to say it’s not Gary’s bounce shot.

Care to round out your own bracket and foresee the victor? Just right snap to download the image.

It works this way: A la the conventional NCAA “College basketball” b-ball competition, we’ve made a Talking Watches bracket that incorporates every one of the 53 scenes organized in straight on matchups. (We are, obviously, somewhat shy of the 64 scenes important to fill the bracket, along these lines, to make this run easily, the initial 11 scenes were given a first round bye. Consider it a “thank you” to the individuals who confided in us to recount their accounts in those early days.)

Each day for the following not many weeks, we’ll present you with various straight on matchups. Your work? Basically reveal to us which is your number one scene in every matchup. We’ll deal with the bracket, and toward the end, we’ll have settled the discussion about the best Talking Watches scene. (What’s more, for a see of the multitude of first Round matchups, make certain to look at the current week’s scene of HODINKEE Radio .)

How you assess a scene is up to you. Perhaps it’s wow factor, possibly it’s the uncommonness of the assortment, perhaps it’s the authority or their accounts – yet as we were reminded in the new scene with Todd Levin , it unquestionably isn’t just about monetary worth. Alongside projecting your votes, our comments area is just getting started and, as usual, an incredible spot to share your opinions.

So we should get to it, and how about we have a little fun.
